On the heels of a wildly successful 16th Annual On Location: MEMPHIS Film & Music Festival, OL:M is proud to announce the Second Annual On Location:MEMPHIS Shorts Festival for the summer of 2016.
For the second year in a row, each Tuesday during the month of July shorts from around Memphis and around the world will be screened at the Hard Rock Cafe on historic Beale Street. Four categories make up this year’s program: Live Action, Animation, Documentary and the newly added On Location: MEMPHIS Live Action, which showcases projects from around the Bluff City. One winner will be selected from each category for automatic entry into the 17th Annual On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Festival on Labor Day Weekend. Prizes will also be presented to each winning entry.
“The first On Location: MEMPHIS Shorts Festival exceeded all expectations,” said OL:M Executive Director Angela Green. “We saw some amazing films and further cemented our longstanding relationship with the the awesome staff at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was a no-brainer to bring the shorts program back for a second year in a bigger and better way.”
OL:M will begin accepting submissions via Film Freeway on December 1, with the early bird deadline scheduled for January 31, 2016. The regular deadline is slated for March 15, with the late deadline coming on April 1. Filmmakers will be notified of their project’s status on or around April 30.
Films do not need to be a premiere, but should not have a distribution deal in place. Each project must be in English (no subtitles please), appropriate for all ages and be 25 minutes or less.
