Some of the Mid-South’s most talented musicians are slated to take part in the 2nd Annual On Location: MEMPHIS Shorts Festival. Each Tuesday evening in July, acts representing sounds from country to gospel and everything in between will grace the Hard Rock Cafe stage. A complete schedule is below.
Tuesday, July 5 – Skyelor Anderson Band
Skyelor Anderson is a singer-songwriter who is making a name for himself in the country music circuit through his fierce dedication to God, his family, his fans, and an “I’ve come too far to stop now” attitude. He appeared on the first season of The X Factor, his music has appeared on iTunes and his debut EP is currently available. Whether an acoustic show or with his band, he plays originals, covers, modern country and country standards. He even throws in a little rock ‘n roll every now and then. He is often compared to Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.
Tuesday, July 12 – Crockett Hall Band
Crockett Hall is an indie musician and singer songwriter from Memphis, TN. He is currently at work on his very first album at High / Low recording.
Tuesday, July 19 – Joyce Howard
Her name is Joyce Howard-Hemans, better known as Miss Joyce. She is a vocalist and songwriter that has a unique sound reminiscent of vintage soul. Music is her passion and what God has blessed her to be able to do. Miss Joyce enjoys sharing the testimony of her own life and/or real life situations to which others can relate.
Tuesday, July 19 – Drew Erwin
Drew Erwin is a 20-year-old singer songwriter based out of Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of 16, with no performing experience, America voted him the Youtube Audition winner on America’s Got Talent season 7. He has shared the stage with Cody Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Pentatonix, Allen Stone, Youtube sensations Megan & Liz, Chris Wallace (ex frontman of The White Tie Affair), and many more. Erwin currently is student at the University of Memphis studying Music Business with a focus on Guitar.
Tuesday, July 26 – Deneka Lewis
Memphis native Deneka “LottaLox” Lewis is a dynamic songstress whose powerful vocals are equally matched with her reflective lyrics. She was also the winner of the 2013 Ostrander Award for her performance as one of the church ladies in the musical The Color Purple. A product of a diversely enriching childhood, Deneka has always had a talent for the arts. Deneka makes it a point to not get stuck inside the box, and thus explores many genres of music including rock, R&B, jazz, soul, house and classical.
