The On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Festival has long been known for hosting experts in entertainment and media so they may share their craft and network with festival guests. The 17th edition of the festival carries on that tradition with three unique Industry Discussions slated for August 12 and 13.
The discussions kick off with marketing and branding experts Nick F. Nelson of Atlanta-based LIQUID SOUL and Michael S. Moore of MooreMentum, LLC serving as a experts during an event entitled “Lifestyle Marketing and Promoting Film.” It is slated for Friday, August 12, at 11:30 a.m., making it perfect for both festival attendees and industry professionals on their lunch break.
The following day, the discussions continue with a panel of five influential women speaking on “Daring to be Different: How Does That Affect Your Project?” It will take place on Saturday, August 13, at noon. Panelists include: Carol Bidault de L’Isle, Elaine Hume Peake, Sheyla Paz, Nancy Puetz and Christie Taylor. These women have a wealth of industry experience that includes time spent as filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, journalists, business owners and much more. The program is presented by Tennessee Women in Film an Media.
Finally, the industry discussions wrap up later that day at 3:30 p.m. with a discussion on “Faith and Hollywood.” The event comes just after the screening of faith-based Restored Me, and will feature the film’s producer, director and co-writer, Rhyan LaMarr, along with executive producer, Craig Carlisle. The discussion will be moderated by Sherry Mackey of 95.7 Hallelujah FM in Memphis.
All discussions will take place at Midtown Memphis’ Studio on the Square. They are free to the general public.

The 17th Annual On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Festival kicks off with a Mix & Mingle Preview Party at the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday, August 11, followed by two days of film screenings and industry discussions on August 12 and 13. The event wraps up on Sunday, August 14, with an awards brunch at The Atrium in Midtown. Special panels, musical guests and other events will also be part of the weekend’s festivities.
