Sweet Soil Narratives is a storytelling and film production company rooted in the rich legacy of the Black South, dedicated to illuminating histories grounded in place, memory, and justice. Through documentary film, oral history, and cultural storytelling, we work alongside communities to preserve cultural memory, honor ancestral wisdom, and amplify stories too often left out of the historical record.
At Sweet Soil Narratives, we believe stories are not just something we tell. They are something we carry, something we inherit, and something we are responsible for passing forward. Your support helps bring these stories to life.
We are currently producing Caravan of Hope, a documentary that tells the story of the 1982 WDIA-led caravan from Memphis to Mound Bayou, when everyday people came together to sustain a historic Black town in a moment of crisis. This film is a testament to collective action, community care, and what becomes possible when people decide to show up for one another. But this is just one story.
Your contribution also supports the development of future projects, including a forthcoming documentary centered on the legacy and cultural impact of WDIA, and other films that continue to explore the intersections of memory, place, and community across the South. These are stories that don’t always get funded. Stories that don’t always get told. Stories that matter deeply.
When you give, you are not just supporting a film. You are investing in a body of work that documents who we are, where we come from, and how we continue to move forward together. You are helping ensure that these stories are preserved, shared, and carried into the future. Join us in this work.
