14th Annual On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Fest Returns to Malco Studio on the Square
Memphis, TN – Midtown Memphis is known around the Bluff City as its creative heart. It only makes sense then that one of the nation’s most diverse film and music festivals should have a strong presence in the Midtown district. At the end of April, the 14th Annual On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Fest will do just that as it returns to the Malco Studio on the Square.
After the opening night kick-off at the Malco Paradiso in East Memphis on Thursday, April 25th, the film portion of the festival will shift to Studio on the Square starting the following day. Wall-to-wall films are scheduled through Sunday April 28th. This year is shaping up to be one of the most diverse festivals ever, with films screening from artists based in Memphis and around the United States, as well as nearly a dozen international countries.
“Studio on the Square has been host to numerous film festivals, and continues to host special screenings for independent filmmakers throughout the year,” said Jimmy Tashie, Executive VP of Malco Theatres, Inc. “It gives us great pleasure to see both young and seasoned filmmakers coming to town with their film projects as they hope to entertain and enlighten new audiences while traveling the festival circuit.”
In addition to the films screening at Studio on the Square, a variety of talented musicians are scheduled to perform throughout the weekend in the theater lobby and at the neighboring Bayou Bar and Grill Restaurant. Meanwhile the festival’s Music Showcase events will take place at Purple Haze near Beale Street on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th.
