On Location: MEMPHIS is pleased to announce that we have secured a collaboration with the European Independent Film Festival, also known as the ÉCU, which is held annually in Paris, France. This partnership was sparked by another On Location: MEMPHIS collaborator, Access Film Music, which itself is an official partner of the ÉCU and which will, once again work with On Location: MEMPHIS in organizing the music performances at our upcoming film and music festival on April 19-22, 2012.
Each year, several hundred filmmakers from around the world screen their films at the ÉCU, exposing their films to audiences comprised not only of eager filmgoers but also to agents, talent scouts, production company representatives, distributors and established producers on the lookout for new projects and untapped talent. Now in its fifth year, the ÉCU festival screens over 150 narrative features, documentaries, shorts, and music videos, showcasing the best of International independent film and holding events in dozens of locations all over Europe. It has grown into a world-class event, uniting new filmmakers with critics, scholars, film masters, and the movie-loving public.
On Location: MEMPHIS’ new relationship with the ÉCU will allow all filmmakers who are selected to screen at our upcoming festival an unprecedented opportunity to enter their films into consideration for the ÉCU’s festival for free. In addition, On Location: MEMPHIS President Lisa Bobal will serve on the ÉCU’s judging board.
Angela Green, On Location: MEMPHIS’ Vice President said of the arrangement, “We look forward to building our relationship with the ÉCU and are grateful to them for allowing our filmmakers such an outstanding opportunity.”
