For the fifth straight year, the On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Fest will host screenings of the prestigious Oscar-nominated live-action short films, and will screen the Oscar-nominated short documentaries for the very first time.
Taking place over two weeks at the Malco Ridgeway Four Theater in East Memphis, the Oscar-nominated live-action shorts will screen on Thursday, February 14th at 7 p.m., with the short documentaries taking center stage the following week, Thursday, February 21st, also at 7 p.m. The events are schedule to be held in conjunction with the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 24th.
This year’s Best Short Film, Live Action Nominees are, “Asad,” “Buzkashi Boys” “Curfew, “”Death of a Shadow (Dood van een Schaduw),” and “Henry.” Meanwhile, the Best Documentary Short nominees are “Open Heart,” “Inocente,” “Redemption,” Kings Point,” and “Mondays at Racine.”
“These two categories at the Academy Awards are always some our favorites due to their international flavor,” said On Location: MEMPHIS President, Lisa Bobal. “Besides being some amazingly creative films, they also give attendees a taste of what they can expect at our festival in April when we will screen great works from around the world.”
